Founded in March, 1991, Shijiazhuang High and New Technology Industrial Development Zone is one of the first state high and new technology industrial development zones. During the past decades, the development zone consisting of “one zone and three parks” has expanded to 18.6 km2, with independent management system. In 2006 the development zone realized total output value of RMB ￥12.9 billion, profit & tax of RMB ￥4.4 billion and financial revenue of RMB ￥1.16 billion. As a large group of projects have been settled in the development zone, the featured industries have taken shape which centers on electronic communication, pharmacy and chemical, optical-electro-mechanical integration, and new materials. A number of famous international companies have set up companies here, such as Nissho Iwai, Fujitsu, NEC, and Itochu from Japan, Hoechst from Germany, Monsato and Hughes from United States, TMD from Britain.
